Several years ago, one of my daughters developed an extreme case of eczema and food allergies. The list of foods she couldn’t consume got longer every year. I felt that I had to do something to help her. I started with baking my own bread with sourdough and other organic ingredients. She was able to have bread again. Then I added yogurt making. I made my own yogurt, and again, she was able to consume it without abdominal discomfort. About five years ago, after the loss of my last baby, I decided to try making my own soaps with ingredients that I can trust. I make goat’s milk soaps which are very nourishing to the skin especially those with sensitive skin like my daughter. I now make soaps with goat’s milk ( from a local homesteader), organic shea butter from a ministry in Ghana which helps local women and children, mango and cocoa butters made in America. I try my best to purchase my ingredients locally, or from companies that help women and children, and the least of these.
Each bar of soap, container of body butter, candle, lip balm, etc.. every product I make is made with love and prayer. As a Christian, homeschooling Mom with years of hardships, all I bring are ashes; and God has given me beauty from these ashes.
